Steve's Bio

When I was about 12 years old a family friend invited me for an airplane ride and I was forever hooked on aviation.

In 1971 I began my career in aviation by attending the Alexandria Area Technical School graduating in 1973 with an associate’s degree in Avionics. My first avionics job took me to Faribault MN. I expanded my knowledge of aviation for 2 years before accepting an avionics technician position with Aerotronics Inc. in 1975. In 1977 I became the avionics manager in the Billings office and earned my private pilot certificate.

In 1979 I moved to Missoula Montana and started a branch avionics shop for Aerotronics and in the same year became an active partner in the company. After 5 years in Missoula I moved back to Billings and my duties expanded to become the general manager for Aerotronics and its branch offices.

With a passion for aviation, great partners and enthusiastic employees it was a perfect combination to continue the growth of the company and expansion of the facilities and capabilities.

My hobbies include flying my Piper PA 11 Cub ‘Special’ that gives me serenity no other aircraft can. My interest in horses has expanded by not only general ranching duties but also competitive ‘reining competitions’. Additionally, no fall is complete without a good bird dog working the wide open spaces of Montana in search of Huns, Sharptails and the elusive pheasant.
